Graffiti Clean Up Day In Nanaimo
Show Your Community Pride Graffiti Clean Up Day June 5
On Saturday June 5th Nanaimo residents get to show how much they care by rolling up their sleeves and participating in the annual Graffiti Clean up day.
From 9:00 AM to 2: 00 PM at Save On Foods, Country Club Mall, 3200 Island Highway North, the annual Graffiti Clean up day kicks off. Each year youth and adult alike are transported to various areas in our city to clean up unwanted graffiti from walls, mail boxes, fences and any other public area they can find. All cleaning materials are provided and volunteers are taken to various spots in the City by a bus provided by the Regional District of Nanaimo Transit Service.
The day wraps up with a barbecue and door prizes, graciously provided by Save On Foods. This year the grand door prize is an Ipod Touch.“This event is really taking off and last year saw a number of youth come out and pitch in. That’s what we want to see” said Constable Gary O’Brien, media spokesperson for the Nanaimo RCMP and member of the Graffiti Task Force.
“Graffiti effects us all and cost taxpayers thousands of dollars yearly. On Saturday June 5th, you get to do something about it. Come out ,show your community spirit an wipe out graffiti for good” said O’Brien. For further information on this event please contact the Nanaimo RCMP Community Policing Section at 250-755-3257.
