China Trip Funding Request  Off Agenda

Without explanation Mayor McKay announced that his request for $11,000 to fund a trade mission trip to China was removed from the agenda.

The stated purpose of the trip was to continue advancing the current investment discussions related to Nanaimo’s Hilton Hotel project. 

The implication that this project was in need of continued advancing seemed at odds with statments made by NEDC CEO Sasha Angus that the hotel deal was proceeding this fall.
