Nanaimo Multicultural Festival June 14, 2014

The DNBIA is proud to sponsor the annual Multicultural Festival which comes to the Old City Quarter on Saturday, June 14 bringing with it a variety of family-friendly activities, entertainment and, of course, fabulous food.

Wesley Street will be closed to traffic so we can make way for the entertainment stages, vendors, displays, children’s area and the international food tent. From 10:30am to 3:30pm the two entertainment stages will offer a variety of cultural and traditional music, song, dance and demonstrations. Join us at the international food fair for a taste of the exotic or browse the many vendors offering demonstrations, information and products from around the globe. The children’s area will once again have the popular bouncy castles, face painting and crafts.

Food vendors include:
– Thirsty Camel
– Red Rhino
– Hungry Rooster
– Pho Dong
– The Queens
– McLean’s Specialty Foods

Live entertainment includes
– Dowda – Ramona Passarello Belly Dancing
with Voodoo Dave on drums & Dave Hart on guitar
– Genya Bomfield Mediterranean Dancers
– Chinese Lion Dance & Parade
– Vesna Ukrainian Dancers
– Rejean Bussieres, Francophone entertainer
– Scherene Auchterloine Celtic Fiddler & Dancer

“We’re looking forward to a record number of interactive information booths, merchandise vendors, folk musicians, dancers and Food Fair participants. This full-day event has always been a great success.” according to event manager Alexandria Stuart.

Central Vancouver Island Multicultural Society and Vancouver Island University’s International Education Department are partners in the event as well. The Multicultural Society will be helping recent immigrants and ethnic organizations connect to the event while VIU will ensure that international students can volunteer and participate fully.

The Festival is seeking groups for the international food fair, interactive educational displays and information tables to demonstrate ethnic arts and crafts, and performers on two separate Festival stages.

Join everyone at the Old City Quarter at Nanaimo’s Multicultural Festival from 10:30 am to 3:30 pm – email [email protected] to participate as a group or individual. Or visit our Facebook page.
